Pila is both a winter and summer Alpine resort, and is located 18 km above the old Roman town of Aosta, and 20 km from the end of the Torino-Aosta motorway (A5). Visitors travelling through France or Switzerland can use either the Mont Blanc tunnel or St bernard pass respectively; as both these famous entry points into Italy lead directly Aosta, from where the road to Pila (1.800m) winds its way up through the mountains, a drive which itself offers a stunning panorama of the high Alps
